The Pacific Trash Vortex: A reminder that we need a better way to deal with trash.

When Matador associate editor JoAnna Haugen sent me this video last week, it was particularly relevant: Id just gotten out of a H2O after leading a snorkeling outing in a Caribbean Sea.

As we pulled myself onto a boat, we had my gear in a single hand as well as a pick up of rubbish Id picked up from a bottom in a other. My occasional debate guide work in Puerto Rico regularly reminds me which humans have a unequivocally ill relationship with garbage. We have too much of it, initial of all, as well as we ship it off to places which get paid for storing it since we dont want to see it ourselves.

For people who live upon islands or near water, problems with trash have been particularly acute. When we learn more about a Pacific Trash Vortex (and theres a messenger spiral of rubbish swirling in a Atlantic), we cant assistance but consider weve got to come up with a better way to deal with a rubbish we produce.
